Rebranded...
Welcome to Tomfoolery.
I’ve neglected Substack for far too long, because I don’t like to do things if I can help it. But now that my peers Charli xcx and Carole Radziwill have joined the platform, I’ve decided I must re-engage. While I dabbled with newslettering for a short time last year, we’re rebranding. Tomfoolery is a weekly-ish pop culture blog where I’ll do whatever I want, untethered from the burdens of structure and reason. Next time an editor deems a brilliant idea of mine too “niche” or “unpublishable,” expect to see it here. What exactly will that be? I’m not telling because I only have a couple of ideas right now and I’m not going to ruin the surprise. But expect my sharp wit and generational voice to be writing about movies, television, music, theater, celebrity...the list goes on and on. Many are saying I’m the first to ever do it!
While Tomfoolery is free — both this blog and in the more general sense of the word — there is a paid tier. But what could possibly be so exclusive? Well, behind that paywall I’ll be delving into something I hardly ever publicly write about out of fear of hurting people’s feelings — things I hate. While my class, couth, and decorum have thus far kept me from spewing negativity publicly, a dollar does in fact make me holler. As a result, gossip, shit talk, and criticism about things and people I think are bad can all be accessed for the low, low price of $5 a month (I would charge less, to be honest, but that’s the lowest Substack allows). Who knows, maybe I’m talking about you behind that paywall!
